However you look at Namibia, it‘s guaranteed to make a big impression… With the emphasis on ‘big’!<br /> <br /> Essentially a desert country, there's an awe-inspiring contrast of landscapes, from the country’s adventure capital of Swakopmund to its two vast, seemingly endless deserts: the inland Kalahari stretching to Namibia’s near-neighbours, or the Namib, the world’s oldest desert, surprisingly rich in wildlife, with an immense sea of red sand and record-breaking dunes. <br /> <br /> Other areas are just as dramatic, like the unforgiving barren Damaraland, home to the country’s oldest inhabitants and 10,000-year-old rock engravings at Twyfelfontein; and the desolate Skeleton Coast, named after the countless skeletal shipwrecks scattered along its length. For wildlife, though, Etosha National Park is the place, full of dense bush and lush vegetation; elephants, lions, all sorts of antelope, and one of the few reserves with both Black and White Rhino.
