Why Stay?
Not only is this resort a super-chic, family friendly retreat from independent ultra-luxury brand JOALI but, with an incredible collection of artworks that unfold across the island, it’s also a wonderland of creativity, indulgence and adventure.
Tucked away in the stunning Raa Atoll – one of the world’s largest and deepest atolls – dreamy ivory sands meet brilliant blue waters, home to coral reefs brimming with life and colour, so the snorkelling and diving here are epic (ditto the array of marine activities, land sports and bespoke Maldivian experiences). Central to the JOALI offering is its exceptional array of art and design which pervades all areas of the resort, while at its epicentre is the JOALI Art Studio and Gallery, where international guest artists exhibit installations to surprise and delight guests.
Other grown-up niceties include a whisky lounge and the JOALI Spa by Espa; and there’s a stellar selection of kids’ activities too, including a kids’ spa, junior cookery school, treasure hunts, and native storytelling sessions around a camp-fire. With so much to do here, you probably won’t spend much time in your room… which, by the way, has arguably some of the most spectacular interior design in Maldives. But, with a fab choice of one- to four-bedroom beach villas, overwater villas and expansive private residences – all filled with artisanal amenities, curated in-room libraries and deluxe objets d’art, plus a private pool and dedicated Jadugar (private butler), you may struggle to tear yourself away.
When you do though, all accommodation comes with bicycles for all guests, so you can pedal your way to all sorts of new discoveries and a host of thoughtfully curated dining options throughout the resort’s five restaurants)! A real gastronomic highlight of JOALI are the two Michelin-starred Chef collaborations, Bellinis – a slice of Italy in the midst of the Maldives, from Nonna-approved pastas to obligatory Bellini aperitifs and grappa digestifs; and SOAKE - designed by world-renowned Japanese restaurant architect Noriyoshi Muramatsu – a floating haven of delectable food serving select sakes, sushi, and teppanyaki/kotatsu seating options for the iron-griddle enthusiast.
