Why Stay?
One&Only Moonlight Basin – the brand's first North American mountain resort – emerges, not as an interruption of the land, but as an extension of it.
Architect Tom Kundig's timber-and-stone lodges are scattered across 240 acres of Montana meadow, their low profiles deferring to the Spanish Peaks on the horizon – floor-to-ceiling windows framing Lone Peak and Fan Mountain like living art. Accommodation ranges from rooms and suites to freestanding cabins and four-to-six-bedroom private homes, all featuring fireplaces, soaking tubs and private balconies. Set within 8100 acres bordering the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, the resort's protected habitat means moose, elk and the occasional grizzly are very much part of the scenery.
Accessed by car or private helicopter from Bozeman, One&Only Moonlight Basin delivers year-round adventure. In winter, a private heated gondola connects directly to Big Sky Resort – North America's largest ski area, with 5850 acres of terrain – for skiing, snowboarding and snowshoeing. In summer, fly fishing on the Madison and Gallatin rivers, mountain biking and guided hikes with resident naturalists beckon; Yellowstone National Park's West Entrance is just an hour away.
Dining spans The Landing, a Japanese steakhouse from celebrity chef Akira Back with panoramic mountain views, and the Moon Shack, a Prohibition-inspired speakeasy hidden among the evergreens. After a day in the wilderness, outdoor pools, hot tubs and the 17,000-square-foot One&Only Spa await – and with Lone Peak as your backdrop, there are few better places to unwind.
