Why Stay?
High above Florence, Villa San Michele reopened in April 2026 after an 18-month restoration that brings new clarity to one of Tuscany's most storied retreats.
Its hillside is the very place where Leonardo da Vinci once trialled his flying machines; and its Michelangelo-inspired Renaissance façade remains the landmark it has always been but inside, rooms and suites have been reimagined with lighter palettes, handcrafted details and a stronger connection to the terraced gardens that climb the hillside. Three new signature suites lead the way: Limonaia, set in the former orangery; The Grand Tour, once Napoleon Bonaparte's private residence; and Botanica, inspired by the estate's woodland edges.
The new Guerlain spa is a destination in itself, alongside a wellness partnership with La DoubleJ offering breathwork and sound healing. At La Loggia, Chef Alessandro Cozzolino's creative tasting menus are paired with those unmistakable views over Florence; while curated experiences – from Chianti Immersions to The Art of Making – draw on the landscape and heritage on the doorstep. A panoramic swimming pool and complimentary shuttle to Florence complete the picture. A refined return for a Tuscan icon – and yet another reason to fall for Florence all over again.
