Why Stay?
In a 1920s neoclassical mansion below the Acropolis, THE DOLLI’s crowning glory is a rooftop infinity pool where you swim alongside the Parthenon – Athens' most improbable yet perfect collision of ancient and immediate.
Designed by one of Greece’s stellar architects, Andreas Kriezis, and just 15 minutes from the Acropolis, The Dolli sits in the tangle of streets leading to Plaka. The 46 rooms favour space and light: three-metre ceilings, marble bathrooms with waterfall showers, Guerlain amenities, and either direct Parthenon views or the calm of interior courtyards where you avoid the street theatre entirely. That rooftop deserves the attention it receives. The infinity pool faces the Acropolis head-on, whilst chef Athanasios Tzanetos works Asian influences into Athenian cooking at DOLLI·S restaurant, the sommelier favouring family-run vineyards from outside the city.
Downstairs, Le Salon is home to a heavenly art-filled pâtisserie, while Le Bar Secret channels speakeasy atmosphere with French surrealist art – Lalan and Cocteau pieces hang in the library lounge where cocktails arrive with conviction. The location makes Athens easily navigable on foot. Family friendly, with 24-hour Mediterranean-influenced room service that apparently converts sceptics. The Dolli works because it occupies the centre without performing centre stage.
