Start your day in legendary Beverly Hills, where cars with tinted windows pull up to Chanel and the other super-luxe boutiques dotted along Rodeo Drive. In the afternoon, continue east to Hollywood for a stroll along the Hollywood Walk of Fame and a visit to Grauman’s Chinese Theatre (though its official, less-memorable name is now the TCL Chinese Theatre). No trip to LA is complete without a trip to Anaheim to visit the original Disneyland or Universal Studios Hollywood. If you only have time for one though, Universal Studios, with its movie-themed rides and back-lot tours, is definitely the one we’d pick.

This twin-set of brilliant beach towns also makes for the quintessential LA experience – a superb, scenic drive along the iconic Pacific Coast Highway, from the super-casual shores of Santa Monica, up to super-rich Malibu. Santa Monica is outstanding for shopping (we adore Montana Avenue – the laid-back alternative to Rodeo Drive) while Malibu is a beach town unlike any other – a haven of oceanfront homes with long strands of beach for Hollywood’s finest and perfect waves for sun-kissed surfers who flock here in their droves.

Santa Barbara, nestled along California's stunning coast, is a gem of a city with so much to offer. Wander through the charming downtown streets, filled with Spanish-style architecture and cute little shops just waiting to be explored. Don't miss a chance to soak up the sun at East Beach or take a leisurely stroll along Stearns Wharf, where you can grab a delicious bite to eat and enjoy the breathtaking ocean views. Explore the city's rich history at the beautiful Santa Barbara Mission or the iconic Santa Barbara Courthouse. And if you're up for some adventure, head to the nearby Santa Ynez Mountains for a hike with stunning views or indulge in some wine-tasting in the picturesque Santa Ynez Valley. There's always something fun to do in Santa Barbara!

One of the world’s most unforgettable stretches of coastline with around 90 miles of redwood- and fog-trimmed waterfront between Carmel-by-the-Sea and Hearst Castle. This magical enclave of Sixties America has, over the years, drawn in sightseers and creative types like Henry Miller and Beat Generation darling Jack Kerouac alike, with its ruggedly beautiful landscapes, numerous ‘photo-ops’ like the Bixby Bridge and McWay Falls and the chance to stop and scan the swells for migrating whales and sea otters en-route.

End your trip in one of the world’s great cities. For a novel way to visit “the City by the Bay” park your car and explore on foot, bike and the unique public transportation. Pedal bike across the Golden Gate Bridge and back, explore the lush Presidio, or head into Golden Gate Park to visit museums and row across a secret gem, Stow Lake. Continue along the flat Embarcadero to Fisherman’s Wharf and the Exploratorium science and learning museum.
