    HIGHLIGHTS

Arenal. The sloth, an emblematic symbol of Costa Rica, is famed for its elusive nature, often concealed within the canopy. Observing a sloth in its natural environment presents a considerable challenge. Nevertheless, the Arenal region provides an exceptional chance to watch these amiable animals and their charming smiles at close quarters.

Caribbean Coast. Just as the plentiful birds at Pacuare Lodge build their nests high in the trees, the lodge has created its own 'nest' in the treetops for an extraordinary gastronomic adventure in the most beautiful setting. And it all starts with a descent down a 130-metre cable to a platform cradled in the branches of a Ceiba tree, a species held sacred by the ancient Mayans.

North Pacific Coast. Experience the whitewater magic as you discover the excitement of thrilling rapids coursing through rugged canyons and verdant tropical rainforests on one of the most exotic and scenic rivers in the world. This adrenaline-pumping excursion takes you through class-III and -IV rapids, past spectacular landscapes, under tumbling cascades, and all the way to the town of Siquirres.

North Pacific Coast. Head out on a heart-pounding, off-roading UTV adventure – and be prepared to get dirty. Stop for a quick nature walk before going to discover astounding ocean views, exclusive to this experience. From there, visit Playa Zapotillal to hang out on a secluded beach where there is rarely another soul.

    San José

San José's cultural attractions are nestled in a compact area of the downtown, making it convenient to explore the city's vibe in just one day. Situated on Avenida Central, a street that's ideal for discovering points of interest, the Plaza de la Cultura stands as both the cultural and physical heart of the city. Begin your journey here at this renowned pedestrian plaza, perfect for people-watching. Enjoy a snack from a local vendor and observe as the city bursts into motion. Perched atop the The Plaza de la Cultura is the Museum of Pre-Columbian Gold; while adjacent to the it's southern edge is the National Theatre (Teatro Nacional), Costa Rica's architectural jewel. Inaugurated in 1897, the National Theatre's design was inspired by the Paris Opera House and is a fine example of neoclassical architecture.

Often overlooked, Costa Rica's Caribbean Coast is a hidden gem characterised by warm waters, bright sunshine, swaying palms, spicy cuisine and a distinctive Afro-Caribbean culture set amidst untouched rainforests. There's a relaxed vibe, a mild climate and the region is absolutely teeming with wildlife. The Caribbean slopes of the Talamanca Mountains shelter elusive and endangered mammals like pumas, ocelots and tayras while, in the secluded Tortuguero National Park, unique birds, reptiles and amphibians flourish.
