Rio, renowned for its carnival and samba, stands out as truly unique. Your stay in the vibrant, urban district of Copacabana, celebrated for its glamour and bustling nightlife also promises expansive sands close to all the main attractions. A visit to the smaller yet equally colourful Ipanema Beach reveals a diverse culture with excellent restaurants and chic shopping on Garcia D'Avila. We also love the neighbourhood of Leblon, home to a lovely collection of quaint bookshops, boutiques, outdoor cafés and the city’s best restaurants. And don’t miss Santa Teresa – the leafy, hillside, cobblestoned, artistic heart of Rio (check out Parque das Ruinas for spectacular 360-degree city views) – its mansions now accommodating artist studios, restaurants, guest houses and an excellent bar scene.

Few sights are as breathtaking as the majestic Iguazú Falls, straddling the border with Brazil. This natural wonder boasts 275 cascades reaching heights of up to 80 metres. The adjacent sub-tropical rainforest is home to more than 2000 plant species and a diverse array of wildlife, including tapirs, giant anteaters, howler monkeys, ocelots, jaguars, and caimans. On the Argentine side, which hosts two-thirds of the falls, walking trails crisscross the tropical rainforest, bringing visitors face-to-face with the roaring waters, with the horseshoe-shaped Devil’s Throat being the crown jewel. While the Brazilian side offers less proximity, it compensates with stunning panoramic vistas.

Santa Catarina, located in the southeast of Brazil, is celebrated for its stunning islands, mountains and nearly 350 miles of coastline. This tranquil state is a melting pot of cultures, with Italian and German immigrants infusing it with a sense of their homeland. Here, you can enjoy the quintessential Brazilian beaches and signature caipirinhas, as well as traditional breweries with German roots and wineries reminiscent of Italy. Florianópolis, the capital, is a haven for sun worshippers, surfers and those in pursuit of pleasure, attracting visitors including Southern right whales in the latter half of the year. It also boasts a plethora of beaches, delectable seafood, charming Azorean fishing villages and vibrant nightlife.
