Mandarin Oriental's Mallorcan resort has the rare luck of a whole headland to itself.

Punta Negra holds seven acres of clifftop above Costa d'en Blanes, its gardens dropping to two coves that in practice belong to guests alone – a private stretch of turquoise a ten-minute walk from the superyachts of Puerto Portals. Hand-placed stones are set through the walls and façade, telling the island's story in the fabric of the building, while the 131 rooms and suites – some with plunge pools, a few with their own rooftops – take the sea in through shutters and shade.
