Why Choose Les Bateaux Belmond?
Seven barges, four to 12 passengers and some of France’s most celebrated waterways. Les Bateaux Belmond swaps conventional river cruising for something altogether more intimate, travelling through Burgundy, Champagne, Provence, Bordeaux and the Camargue with a private crew and guide. Wine country is a particular speciality, with cellar visits, private tastings and vineyard lunches accompanied by an onboard chef and carefully chosen French wines. With six of the seven barges available only for private charter, each journey can be tailored around the people on board.
Barges operate from April through October.

Days ashore might mean cycling Burgundy’s Route des Grands Crus, visiting Champagne cellars or exploring a market with your chef before dinner that evening. Private wine tastings, château visits, hot-air balloon flights and regional food experiences can all become part of the itinerary, with excursions tailored to the interests of each group.
Rest & Recharge
Each barge has its own personality, from Coquelicot’s polished Champagne glamour to Marguerite’s Burgundy-inspired interiors, but all have en-suite cabins and generous windows onto the water. Several add heated pools or plunge pools, with decks for alfresco dining and watching rural France slip past. With no more than 12 passengers aboard – and as few as four on Alouette – the atmosphere feels closer to a private villa than a cruise ship.
