The Oberoi has watched New Delhi change since 1965, although its outlook remains unusually green. Six decades on, it still feels entirely current.

Humayun’s Tomb fills the view on one side; the wooded fairways of Delhi Golf Course stretch away on the other. Inside, Lutyens-inspired geometry is recast in oak, marble and vivid Indian colour, with picture windows framing one view or the other. Delhi comes indoors most vividly at Dhilli, where Vineet Bhatia draws on the cooking of Jama Masjid, Chandni Chowk, Nizamuddin and the capital’s other neighbourhoods. Andrew Wong looks farther east at Baoshuan, bringing modern Chinese dishes and dim sum; at Cirrus 9, the skyline opens to cocktails after dark.
