Sometimes all you need (particularly in a place as idyllic as Búzios) is an incredibly photogenic hillside setting, a convivial atmosphere, a couple of pools, and subtly stylish suites with sublime ocean views. Which is where Vila d'Este comes in. And while it may be a rather steep ascent up from the beach, those afore-mentioned views (from the pool deck, bar, restaurant and gardens too) make that climb oh so very worthwhile.
