Just outside downtown Shanghai, an ancient camphor forest (rescued,
then relocated 435 miles from Jiangxi to Shanghai) sets the scene for
Aman’s fourth Chinese destination. Accommodation is a mix of the
contemporary and the historic: from the 24 Club Suites to the 13 Antique
Villas (Ming- and Qing-dynasty dwellings saved from demolition and
reassembled, brick by ancient brick, to create peaceful, refined spaces);
and it’s all topped off with everyone’s favourite Aman accoutrements.
