Lima
When people discuss great South American cities, Lima is often overlooked. But Peru's capital can hold its own against its neighbours. It has an oceanfront setting, colonial-era splendour, sophisticated dining, and nonstop nightlife. It's true that the city – clogged with traffic and choked with fumes doesn’t make a great first impression – but wander around the regal edifices surrounding the Plaza de Armas, among the gnarled olive trees of San Isidro's Parque El Olivar and you'll find yourself well and truly charmed. |

The jaw-dropping white-stoned city of Arequipa (hence it’s nickname, the ‘White City’) this UNESCO World Heritage site is cradled by three steep, gargantuan, snow-covered volcanoes. One of the most visually-stunning cities in Peru, it shines under the striking sun at 2350 metres above sea level, abuzz with people mingling at bars and cafés in 500-year-old sillar buildings, and shoppers seeking the finest alpaca threads anywhere in the country.

Colca Canyon
The Colca Canyon in southern Peru's Arequipa region is an area of astounding scenic beauty, best known as one of the world's deepest canyons, reaching a depth of 4160 metres – a depth that can most easily be appreciated from the Cruz del Condor, a viewpoint where Andean Condors can be seen most days throughout the year. The valley also features an incredible amount of Inca and pre-Inca agricultural terraces and the irrigation systems necessary to operate them. |

Lake Titicaca
Located between Bolivia and Peru, Lake Titicaca is one of the most fascinating lakes in the world, situated at a very high altitude of over 3800 metres above sea level, and a sacred place for the Inca civilization (Incan mythology says that the first Inca king, Manco Capac, was born here). The town of Puno is also an interesting place to visit during your stay, as it’s the capital of Peru’s folklore and has a beautiful old cathedral. |
