DAYS 2-3 Buenos Aires

Buenos Aires is the most visited city in South America, and for good reason with so many great things to see and do. Highlights include Recoleta Cemetery, established in 1822, with more than 4500 above-ground vaults (94 of which were declared national historical monuments). Another must-do is Caminito or ‘little street’, in La Boca – an area that’s alive with music, laughter and pulsating tango beats – it’s a great place where you’ll come across impromptu tango performances, and watch local artists at work.
DAY 4 Buenos Aires to Bariloche
Journey Time: A 2 hour, 20 minute flight & 55 minutes by car

Stay: Llao Llao Hotel & Resort (3 nights)
DAYS 5-6 Bariloche

Bariloche really does have the WOW factor. It’s one of the world’s most attractive cities, in one of the most gorgeous settings imaginable, on the shores of Lake Nahuel Huapi and surrounded by the soaring peaks of Cerros Catedral, López, Nireco and Shaihuenque (to name just a few), all well over 2000m high – so you get chocolate-box views in almost every direction. Speaking of which, it’s also famous for producing the purest, chocolate in the country, so as well as shops full of divine handmade chocolates, you’ll find the world’s longest chocolate bar, and a festival each Easter dedicated to everyone’s favourite sweet treat.
DAY 7 Bariloche to El Calafate
Journey Time: A 1 hour, 45 minute flight & 20 minutes by car

Stay: Eolo (2 nights)
DAY 8 El Calafate

Part of the Patagonian steppe where the Santa Cruz plateau meets the Andes, El Calafate is a world-class destination in its own right, thanks to the neighbouring Perito Moreno Glacier (considered by many as the 8th natural wonder of the world, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1981.

Staying at Eolo Lodge, set in the Anita Valley, 30 minutes from El Calafate itself and en-route to the glacier, you’re perfectly placed to explore this, the region’s greatest attraction; with time to tour EOLO, its surrounds, and enjoy the abundant outdoor activities, as well as the region’s other highlights, like the Upsala Glacier and Lago Argentino, El Chaltén (the trekking capital of Argentina) or the Glaciarium if time allows.
DAY 9 El Calafate to Buenos Aires
Flight Time: 2 hours, 55 minutes

Stay: Legado Mítico (2 nights)
DAY 10 Buenos Aires

Glamorous and gritty, Buenos Aires is two cities in one. What makes Argentina's capital so fascinating is its dual heritage – part European, part Latin American. Plaza de Mayo resembles a grand square in Madrid, and the ornate Teatro Colón would not be out of place in Vienna. But you’ll know you’re in South America by the leather shoes for sale on cobbled streets and impromptu parades of triumphant soccer fans. Limited-production wines, juicy steaks, and ice cream in countless flavours are among the old-world imports the city has perfected.
DAY 11 Depart Buenos Aires on your international flight back to London Heathrow.
PRICES 10 nights from £5,340 per person
