It’s one thing to visit a place, but it’s another to immerse yourself in it. Not just to see the sights, but also to meet the people, understand the history and drink in the culture.

If one of the most enjoyable parts of your holiday is fully immersing yourself in the the local culture and cuisine, then this epicurean adventure is just for you. Starting in Portugal and cruising all the way up the Atlantic Coast of France, you'll get to sample some of the most authentic cuisine and finest delicacies Europe has to offer. From cannelés and wines in Bordeaux, crêpes in Mont Saint Michel, and fresh oysters in the medieval town of Saint Malo, you're sure to find something to satisfy your most curious tastebuds.

As well as a visit to Oporto’s city centre (a UNESCO World Heritage site) boasting the Castelo Queijo and impressive 14th-century St Francis Church, this trip includes a tour of one of Oporto's renowned wine cellars for a taste of some world-famous port, and to learn the history and traditions behind their maturing and blending methods.

From Bordeaux you'll journey to Guernsey – the Island of Flowers – where you may choose to visit the lovely Sausmarez Manor for a deliciously quintessential English tea party or wander amidst beautiful subtropical gardens.

Next stop Bilbao, and something a little bit extra-special... a privately-guided tour of the Guggenheim Museum of Modern Art, opened exclusively for Silver Explorer’s guests. All that excitement of course builds an appetite so afterwards you'll be treated to different meat and seafood pintxos, paired with wines of the region.

Returning to the French coast that evening, the next day brings a visit to the legendary and spectacular granite tidal island of Mont Saint Michel, or maybe a trip to Cancale to savour its oysters and crêpes.

As Silver Explorer moves north, you'll explore the historical sights of Bordeaux before visiting the classified wine Château Lynch-Bages in the heart of the Medoc, a real highlight of this voyage. Then it's on to a special lunch at the two-Michelin Star Relais & Châteaux Cordeillan-Bages for a memorable meal in a truly historical setting.

Your last port of call is Arromanches to pay homage to the historic events of 1944 including a tour of the Musée du Débarquement and American Cemetery, perched above Omaha Beach, site of the heaviest of the American casualties.
