Baraabaru, Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Kuda Huraa

This restaurant is in the most outstanding setting – right at the edge of the resort, its dramatic Kerala-inspired pavilion and torch-lit overwater deck overlooking the pool and the ocean beyond. Baraabaru translates to 'simple the best'… and I couldn't think of a better way to sum up the made-to-order home-style Indian fare here… so much choice and not too spicy. 


101 Dining Lounge & Bar, One&Only The Palm, Dubai

This is a must-eat dinner option in Dubai. Food is Mediterranean-inspired; there's tons of choice; the service is utterly superb; and you can't beat the view – looking back across the water at the glittering skyline (so it's a magical spot for sundowners too). 

Most Sublime Spa Experiences

The One&Only Spa, One&Only Le Saint Géran, Mauritius

My husband and I indulged in so many spa treatments here, we just couldn't get enough! Our favourite though was the intoxicating couples' hot-stone massage. It was absolutely divine, warm volcanic stones are worked across your body using aromatic oils to totally relieve your whole body.

 

The Ikos Spa by Anne Semonin, Ikos Olivia, Halkidiki

The spa here is awesome; I loved the relaxation area and the number of treatments on offer is sure to keep even the most stressed of people relaxed for an entire week. From Paris with Love (an invigorating back exfoliation followed by a soothing back, neck and scalp massage)… just wow! Combine it with the Made to Measure facial and you'll come out with rehydrated, nourished and protected skin and an overall sense of calm and wellbeing. I'd have this every day if I could.

What's not to love about this villa? Two separate bedrooms, an outdoor garden with heaps of space, a private plunge pool, and a fab double day bed (perfect for afternoon snoozes with your loved one or to just chill and read the latest best-seller). They're an excellent option for families too.

There's somewhat of a theme developing here: hotels that have simply bowled me over with their outstanding villa options. Obviously the privacy you get when you book a hotel villa is one of the key features – but here the Waterfront Villas will get you an abundance of personal space, a super-spacious terrace with a heated saltwater swimming pool, a private sundeck with killer views over the Med.
