For over thirty years, Colin Prior – one of the world' most celebrated landscape photographers – has been travelling the globe, capturing stunning images from some of the most remote, fascinating, and striking places known to man. And now, you can learn the secrets to taking picture-perfect shots on one of our latest adventures too...

We all like to think of ourselves as budding photographers, but a photographic journey through distant lands with Colin Prior himself will help you take the next step to creating everlasting and unique images of your travel experiences.

Travelling with Colin in a small group of 6-12 people, you’ll visit extraordinary destinations, heading down a road much less-travelled, experiencing unique local cultures and seeing the world through completely different eyes – all in pursuit of the perfect picture. Colin’s expert knowledge will guide you through a series of workshops throughout your travels that will enable you to capture your own indelible memories and personal photographs that, once back in reality, you’ll take pride in displaying to all who visit for many years to come.

About Colin...

'I never go out to photograph what's there but rather what's not. I have spent my life chasing moments that ordinarily don't exist.'

Colin Prior's path into photography started not on dry land but beneath the waves. Having created a portfolio of images around Scotland's coastline and in the Red Sea, he went on to win 'best newcomer to underwater photography' in the Camera Beneath the Waves competition in 1981. This produced the catalyst that was to change his life and he gave up his job as operations manager to embark on a career as a professional photographer.

Commissioned by advertising and design agencies for clients in the travel, lifestyle, and leisure sectors, he began to develop his personal work and by the end of the 90s had pioneered the use of the panoramic format, publishing two books Highland Wilderness, 1993 and Scotland –The Wild Places, 2001. In the mid 90s, Colin was commissioned by British Airways to shoot four of their corporate calendars – a brief that took him over one million miles to 40 different countries where he photographed some of the world's most dramatic landscapes and the indigenous people who made them their home.

Colin continues to work closely with the creative community, recently completing commissions for Calmac, Talent Scotland and Bowmore. He is currently working on a four-year project documenting Pakistan's Karakoram Mountains, which is sponsored by Lowepro, Rab and Lee Filters and was the subject of a BBC1 documentary entitled Mountain Man (2015).

Colin is a Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society and is President of the Association for the Protection of Rural Scotland. He has published seven photographic books including Scotland's Finest Landscapes (2014) – a 25 year photography retrospective and has had three solo exhibitions. His work in Scotland and Pakistan is recognised in a Scottish Parliamentary motion.
