  • Day 1

    Outbound international flight to Denver

Stay: The Ritz-Carlton, Denver (2 nights)

  • Day 2

    Denver

Denver is a great starting point for travelling into the Rockies – it’s home to numerous museums, galleries and restaurants, and you can spend hours exploring the Denver Museum of Nature and Science or the Denver Zoo. For a taste of old-time Denver, spend some time in Larimer Square – also a great spot for sampling some of the city's cuisine and, of course, the beer.

  • Day 3

    Denver to Vail

Drive Time: 1 hour, 35 minutes | Distance: 98 miles

Stay: Four Seasons Resort and Residences Vail (2 nights)

  • Day 4

    Vail

Vail is the ultimate mountain playground – and not just in winter. From golfing to white-water rafting, summer is one of the best times to enjoy the town and its opportunities for outdoor adventure.

  • Day 5

    Vail to Moab

Drive Time: 3 hours, 25 minutes | Distance: 227 miles

If you have time, you can take a detour of just 30 miles and visit the beautiful town of Aspen, with its high-end shopping and excellent restaurants, keep an eye out for fresh peaches in local orchards as you approach Grand Junction, or break up your journey with a stop at the Colorado National Monument for a glimpse of the redrock country you’ll see in abundance over the next few days.

Stay: Sorrel River Ranch (3 nights)

  • Day 8

    Moab to Salt Lake City

Drive Time: 3 hours, 50 minutes | Distance: 248 miles

The drive from Moab to Salt Lake City is very scenic and helps you see the best that Utah has to offer. If you have the time, head west and go through the San Rafael Swell – one of the world’s most ruggedly-beautiful terrains – a ‘swell’ in the earth’s surface, formed by tremendous geologic upheavals many moons ago.

Stay: The Grand America Hotel (1 night)

  • Day 9

Salt Lake City to Yellowstone National Park

Drive Time: 5 hours, 20 minutes | Distance: 352 miles

Our preferred route via Jackson Hole is a more ambitious tour than the direct route, and will add a few extra hours to the journey (excluding any stops en-route), but the benefits far outweight the drawbacks. It’s a truly breathtaking drive through lovely little towns, magnificent alpine scenery, and you get an impromptu visit to the stunning Grand Teton National Park too.

    Stay: Yellowstone Lodge (3 nights)

    Your Stay

    Lake Yellowstone Lodge & Cabins

Experience Colonial Revival heritage to the sounds of a string quartet in this classic hotel, designated a national historic landmark. Recently renovated, (it's the oldest building inside the National Park), it’s certainly a cut above the area’s other hotels.
