Cape Kidnappers, Hawke's Bay, North Island, New Zealand
Forming part of North Island’s Hawke’s Bay, one of New Zealand’s most important wine districts, Cape Kidnappers has a rich history, beginning with its discovery by Captain Cook in 1769.
Even the drive up to this place is a bit special! Passing sheep and horses, crossing rivers and streams, it sets the scene for your stay on a sheep farm. But what a farm! The style is pure rural chic-comfy but cool and with witty touches like old tractor seats on the walls, all done in a beautifully understated way.
The graciously-designed 'Farm' cottages and the luxurious Owner's Cottage are created from a combination of stone and weathered wood exteriors, with comfortable up-to-the-minute furniture inside: perfectly matching the breathtaking panoramic views over some of New Zealand's most dramatic coastline.
It's all welcoming, peaceful and very luxurious, especially the stunning 50ft heated infinity pool and lovely, über-indulgent spa.
Of course there are outdoor activities galore, golfers in particular enjoying a real treat with one of the world's best courses – a par 71, Tom Doak-designed golf course
