Dubai is a metropolis of constant innovation, an ever-evolving Emirate that's always on the lookout for the next big thing: the most eye-catching architecture, exquisite shopping malls and vibrant nightlife venues. But for a foodie like me, it's the influx of conceptual cuisine and imaginative eateries currently flooding Dubai's divine dining scene that get my mouth watering… here's my pick of this year's finest foodie hangouts and why they're top of my hit-list.

COYA

Cusine | Latin Americano

A glitteringly-gorgeous restaurant that serves top-notch South American cuisine, with a late evening bar scene that's quite simply electric. The ceviche, tiradito, meat skewers and lamb chops are outstanding, the desserts – notably the sweetcorn ice cream and chocolate fondant (made with the rarest cocoa on earth) – totally hit the spot, and the service makes you feel like a superstar.

CAFÉ BELGE

Cuisine | Classically Belgian

An elegant Art Deco restaurant modelled on the 1920s grand cafés of Brussels, with an outdoor terrace that's a bit of a gem. Putting a fine-dining spin on Belgian classics, the mussels are top-notch, the frites (a national passion in Belgium) are done to perfection and the burger is sensational – as is the raw bar and choice of Belgium's finest beers – all perfectly complemented by the suitably-vintage soundtrack.

Location | The Ritz-Carlton, Dubai Int'l Financial Centre

THE RIB ROOM

Cuisine | Sophisticated Steakhouse

Seriously classy, slightly retro and oozing atmosphere, Dubai's second Rib Room is a smoking-hot destination for meat lovers! The superb staff uses their excellent knowledge to guide you through the menu of John Stone dry-aged grass-fed Irish beef, Australian 1824 grain-fed beef and Master Kobe Wagyu cuts, or the royally-recommended Loch Fyne seafood. There's a lovely cheese board too if you still have room!

Location | Jumeirah Zabeel Saray
