Royal Mansour, Marrakech, Morocco
One of our favourite hangouts in the heart of mystical Marrakech, owned by the King of Morocco himself, this hidden gem, concealed by adobe walls, is a stunning reimagining of a traditional Moroccan medina.
Alleyways twist through fragrant gardens, connecting Royal Mansour's Andalusian courtyards and 53 riads; while Moroccan splendour impresses inside at every turn.
Expect vast beds, exotic handcrafted touches and living areas ripe for royal banquets – all topped off with an open-air courtyard, roof terrace and private pool looking out over souks and minarets towards the Atlas Mountains.
To keep service discreet, there's a network of underground tunnels for staff to use; and the top-notch team is overseen by Executive Chef Yannick Alléno, who previously won three Michelin stars at Le Meurice in Paris and designed all the menus.
Even the Spa is a vision to behold – a glazed pavilion encircled by a moat, covering 2500sqm. And location-wise, you’re at the city’s heart too, unlike other hotels this size which tend to be in the new town. A place fit for a king – quite literally!
