In September 2014, Los Cabos, Mexico and Baja California were hit by the powerful and devastating Hurricane Odile, which left a trail of destruction in its wake, and damage totalling over $1 billion. As a result, One&Only Palmilla has been closed since the disaster, and received a number of generous donations to help staff and their families recover and rebuild this sensational property, with a complete refurbishment and refit.​​
